Kangaroo Island, Australia pictures. Kangaroo Island is a small island on the south side of Australia, near Adelaide. Most of the island is a wildlife preserve. Koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, penguins, sea lions, echidnas, and goanna lizards can easily be seen in the wild. The Great Barrier Reef is well known for scuba diving, but the diving I did here with seals and sea lions in the 55 degree Fahrenheit water is more memorable. See the rare leafy sea dragon among the kelp while other playful animals circle around you. There are no underwater pictures here, but in addition to wildlife photos, there are several views of the beaches and coastal bays around the island, including interesting rock formations.
